We’ve created this website to provide quick, accurate, and easy access to the basic facts of this project and the impact it will have on our local community.

   Spotsylvania carries the lowest number of households affected, but the impact is still significant.  Additionally, the  VLT map shows a “study area” covering the majority of Spotsylvania County. (So that is why you may have received a letter even though you’re nowhere near the currently proposed power lines.) The proposed routes could change. 

At a recent open house, I asked one of the Valley Link representatives “Why? Why are you running this line through our rural areas only to feed the data centers in Northern Virginia? There is absolutely no benefit to our community.”

 He answered excitedly: “Look! “(points to map) “Say they build a Walmart here, they need power.  Then a substation can go right here and ………………….” (wait a minute – did you just put a substation in the middle of the Biscoe’s farm ?!?!?)

“So now I have to worry about a substation in my community?” I asked.

He looked genuinely confused “Why would you worry about a substation?” 

And that’s when it hit me-this is only the beginning.  This monstrosity of a power line is only the tip of the iceberg. I am not willing to stand by quietly while our rural area is sacrificed for “the greater good”.  We are the good of many, and we’re not going down without a fight.  Please help us to protect our rural areas of Spotsylvania and let your voice be heard today.
